Six Months to go until the 20th Anniversary Edition of Mexico’s Pioneering PGA TOUR Event, the World Wide Technology Championship |
|
The countdown is on as the World Wide Technology Championship prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary edition in just six months’ time when the PGA TOUR returns to Mexico this November 5-8. Once again, Los Cabos and Diamante’s El Cardonal course will receive 120 of the world’s best professional golfers and will showcase the country and the destination to the world.
The tournament has been a pioneer for golf in Mexico and Latin America since its founding in 2007 when the first edition of the event was played in the Riviera Maya-Cancun region; and has continued to lead the way ever since. 2023 of course saw the event move to Mexico’s premier golf destination of Los Cabos.
The tournament has annually gathered leading figures from the PGA TOUR and has delivered many iconic moments and memories, including crowning champions such as inaugural winner Fred Funk in 2007, back-to-back winner Viktor Hovland in 2020 and 2021 and reigning champion Ben Griffin, who is currently ranked No. 16 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

This year, the WWT Championship will again feature a week full of action and excitement. Beyond the four rounds of professional competition, multiple Pro-Ams will be contested over the week giving sponsors, VIPs and amateur golfers the opportunity to tee it up alongside the pros.
The festivities start with the Kickoff Pro-Am on Monday, November 2, and run through the El Cardonal and Dunes Pro-Ams on Wednesday, November 4. Another highlight is the Oasis Short-Am benefiting the First Tee of Diamante which gathers PGA TOUR pros along with junior golfers to raise funds for the inspiring and uplifting program which strives to introduce the game of golf and its values to young people who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity.
Beyond the Pro-Ams, a series of special events also mark tournament week at the WWT Championship. As is tradition, the event’s junior golf clinic will be held on Saturday, November 7, and is an opportunity for all children in attendance to get up close with PGA TOUR players and practice their swing.
“Golf is Gourmet” returns in 2026 after its highly successful debut last year and will once again bring together VIP guests with PGA TOUR pros and renowned local chefs for an exclusive and intimate culinary experience. Modu’s Fitness bootcamp, live music, the Fan Zone and so much more make every day of tournament week an opportunity to forge memories and enjoy unforgettable experiences.
And last but certainly not least, the WWT Championship will again offer an attractive variety of hospitality and ticket options to enjoy the professional competition. From private VIP suites to shared hospitality venues, there is truly something for everyone looking to experience PGA TOUR action in style. Tickets will go on sale later this summer.
