In its third year in Los Cabos, the event will also welcome Luke Donald, Tony Finau and defending champion Austin Eckroat

Los Cabos, Mexico (September 18, 2025) – J.J. Spaun and Ben Griffin, ranked #6 and #11 respectively in the Official World Golf Ranking and both members of the United States’ team at next week’s Ryder Cup, are among the first player commitments to be announced for the 2025 World Wide Technology Championship, which is slated for November 6-9 in Los Cabos, Mexico. Joining Spaun and Griffin in the tournament field will be defending champion Austin Eckroat as well as European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald and two-time Ryder Cup participant Tony Finau.

“We are honored to welcome such great guys and highly-ranked players to this year’s field,” said Tournament Director Joe Mazzeo. “We invite everyone in Los Cabos to join us during tournament week to witness great golf and enjoy the spectacle of PGA TOUR action along with all the fun and excitement of this world-class event.”

Spaun has enjoyed a career year in 2025 highlighted of course by his victory at Oakmont Country Club in the 125th U.S. Open, which marked his first career Major Championship. His season also included a total of seven top-10 finishes, with runner-up finishes at the PLAYERS Championship, the FedEx St. Jude Championship and the Cognizant Classic.

The 29-year-old Griffin, a WWT brand ambassador, earned his first career victories in 2025 with wins at the Zurich Classic and the Charles Schwab Challenge which propelled him to a career-high ranking where he currently remains. Additionally, 2025 saw second-place finishes for Griffin at the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday and last week’s Procore Championship—both times being bested only by World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.

Donald has played in four Ryder Cup Matches and served as an assistant captain twice before being named captain in 2022. He will attempt to lead Europe to its second straight team victory next week. Donald is a former World No. 1 and has collected 11 career wins across the PGA TOUR and the DP World Tour. Also confirmed to be in Los Cabos is six-time PGA TOUR winner Tony Finau, who will return to the WWT Championship for the first time since 2022. Keeping with the Ryder Cup theme, Finau was a member of the victorious U.S. team in 2021 at Whistling Straits.

Eckroat will return to defend his title, which he captured last year by one stroke to earn his second PGA TOUR victory of the year and of his career. The 26-year-old became the second straight winner of the WWT Championship to shoot a final-round 63. By lifting the iconic Cabo Arch trophy, Eckroat – the “Cabo Kid” – notched his second victory in Los Cabos after he also won the Cabo Collegiate as an amateur at Oklahoma State in 2019.
