Round 1 Recap
Image

The 2024 World Wide Technology Championship is officially underway, and despite challenging winds, the competition is off to an exciting start. Tom Whitney, Kevin Streelman, and Rico Hoey share the lead after each carded impressive rounds of 5-under 67. Hoey made the highlight reel with a crowd-pleasing chip-in birdie on the 11th hole.

Defending champion Erik van Rooyen sits just one shot back after firing a solid 4-under 68 to start his bid to become only the second player to win consecutive titles here, following Viktor Hovland’s back-to-back victories in 2020 and 2021. He’s joined by six others in a tie for fourth, all within striking distance as they head into Round 2.

With a tightly packed leaderboard and plenty of golf left to play, the stage is set for more excitement in Los Cabos tomorrow as players battle to make the cut and secure their spots for the weekend.
