World Wide Technology Championship Celebrates Its 20th Edition and Two Decades of PGA Tour History in Mexico
The PGA Tour returns to Tiger Woods-designed El Cardonal at Diamante for the annual FedExCup event
LOS CABOS, MEXICO (October 8, 2026) – The World Wide Technology Championship is preparing to celebrate a historic milestone. Twenty years after making history as the first official PGA Tour event held outside the United States and Canada, the tournament returns to Los Cabos to commemorate two decades of PGA Tour history in Mexico.
From November 5–8, the World Wide Technology Championship will once again bring together 120 PGA Tour players at El Cardonal at Diamante. For the fourth consecutive year, the first golf course designed by Tiger Woods will host 72 holes of competition in a particularly meaningful edition of the FedExCup season.
Since Fred Funk lifted the trophy at the inaugural event in 2007, the World Wide Technology Championship has built a history defined by great champions and memorable moments. Over the past two decades, names such as Harris English, Graeme McDowell, Matt Kuchar, Viktor Hovland—the tournament's only two-time champion—Russell Henley, Erik van Rooyen, Austin Eckroat and, most recently, Ben Griffin have joined a list of champions that reflects the event's evolution and competitive excellence. Twenty years after opening a new chapter for the PGA Tour in Mexico, the championship continues to strengthen its legacy and contribute to the growth of professional golf in Mexico and Latin America.
The legacy of the World Wide Technology Championship has also been built beyond the golf course. Over the past 20 years, the tournament has generated more than $4 million in charitable contributions and brought together thousands of volunteers, staff members and organizations that, year after year, have helped extend its impact within communities and strengthen its ties to Mexico.
Since moving to Los Cabos in 2023, the tournament has reinforced its commitment to the local community and become an important driver of economic activity for the destination. Beyond this impact, the World Wide Technology Championship also provides valuable international exposure for Mexico. Through the PGA Tour's global broadcast coverage, the tournament offers a platform to showcase the quality of golf in Mexico to audiences around the world and, from its current home in Los Cabos, highlight the destination's spectacular landscapes, hospitality and world-class infrastructure, further strengthening Mexico's position as a leading destination for golf and international tourism.
"Reaching our 20th edition is an achievement we share with everyone who has been part of this tournament over the years," said Joe Mazzeo, Tournament Director. "We are incredibly proud of what we have built and especially grateful to the fans, sponsors, players, volunteers, vendors, media and, above all, the communities that have made it possible. Over these two decades, we have watched the tournament grow and its impact extend far beyond the golf course. We are thrilled to celebrate this anniversary here in our home, Los Cabos, the premier golf destination in Latin America."
All four rounds will be televised and distributed worldwide through the PGA Tour's extensive broadcast network, including Golf Channel in the United States and Golf Channel Latin America in Mexico and throughout Latin America. Internationally, PGA Tour coverage is available in more than 220 countries and territories in 26 languages through 44 broadcast and digital partners.
The celebration of the tournament's 20th edition will extend beyond the golf course. Throughout tournament week, fans will enjoy a variety of experiences combining world-class golf with the energy and lifestyle of Los Cabos, including hospitality offerings, culinary experiences, live music, sponsor activations and family-friendly activities.
