Q. PGA TOUR debut, had a great start. Just want to start off with some comments about Round 1
BILLY DAVIS: Like you said, a good start. I had a really good group today. They were all nice to me so I felt pretty comfortable out there to begin with. Still have to play No. 9 tomorrow, but we're in a good spot.
Q. Did you have a number in mind what you were hoping to accomplish here today?
BILLY DAVIS: No, I don't really do that. I just try to stay in the present, like we always say. I got off to a good start, birdied 1, was 2 under through four, then made a few more to go 4 under through nine. Like I said, kind of one shot at a time, try not to get ahead of myself.
Q. What made you just sign up for the Monday qualifier?
BILLY DAVIS: It was a course right by my house and I played a pre-qualifier there before and I was kind of like, I don't know about this and my dad told me to do it. All right, whatever.
Got through the pre-qualifier and it was really good experience getting able to play with some Korn Ferry guys on Monday and just happened to play really well and have a good day.
Q. (Inaudible) you chipped in for birdie?
BILLY DAVIS: I did, yeah. It was just one of those days where I played well and then it was just -- I was just supposed to make it that day, that's just how it was.
Q. What are your goals for this week?
BILLY DAVIS: I've learned a lot so far and that was the main one, just take away some good lessons from this. I want to compete and do well and make the cut and have a good finish. That's what my goal was so far this week.
Q. Who's with you this week?
BILLY DAVIS: My two parents and then a family friend who's caddying for me.
Q. Saw Matt Kuchar came over before your round, said some words, said the group you're playing with is really nice. Have there been any players that have come up, said words of encouragement or said some advice this week?
BILLY DAVIS: Yeah, Jonathan Byrd. I know his son, Jackson Byrd, pretty well. We were on the Junior Ryder Cup team together, so I've seen him at a few of his tournaments. Tyson Alexander, his dad's the assistant coach at Auburn, so he came up and said a few words. Obviously Matt Kuchar, a few other guys told me good luck today, which is cool.
Q. How did the Junior Ryder Cup experience prepare you for this?
BILLY DAVIS: Yeah, I mean, it was huge really because we played Marco Simone. Junior golf as helped me so much. We played so many good courses like the Junior Players, I played the Mayakoba Invitational last year at Mayakoba. So I played a fair share of PGA TOUR courses. Marco Simone was a good one, there was a lot of people watching, lot of cameras, so I think that prepared me for this week.
