Q. Nico, 69, 3 under, bogey free. Tell us about your day.

NICO ECHAVARRIA: Yeah, it was a good round, good start, bogey free. A lot of wind for the morning. I don't think we had this much wind last year. It's good, it's good to, especially after a win, to take control over your ball with this much wind is always very positive. It was a good round overall, pretty solid.

Q. What did you do best?

NICO ECHAVARRIA: I just kept it in play, hit good iron shots. (No audio) I missed the greens, so maybe short game was the best, three key upanddowns on 18, on 8 off the green and on 7, too. Those were good pars. 7 and 8 are hard holes that you have to pass and make parpar.

Q. Any shot that stands out?

NICO ECHAVARRIA: Yeah, the chip shot I hit on 18 was really, really good. That was a very hard shot where I left myself. Got it up and down, hit it to maybe six feet and made the putt.

Q. You had a nice pairing. Talk to me about that group.

NICO ECHAVARRIA: Yeah, I get along with both of them very well. Obviously me and Jhonny speak Spanish, but I've also played a lot of golf with Erik. He's a great guy and obviously he likes this place, so kind of have to ride his good vibes out here. He hits the ball very good and he had a great round, too.

Q. Was this a continuation of just what you found in Japan?

NICO ECHAVARRIA: Yeah. I mean, I honestly didn't  haven't found much. I've been playing good golf. I've had a lot of good finishes this year. In Japan the putter got hot and I gave myself a chance to win and I won. But overall the year has been positive for me. I've been having good results, I just didn't have that great result like Japan. It's been a good year overall.

Q. So no hangover from the win?

NICO ECHAVARRIA: Hangover's over.
