Q. Four under for the first round here, how would you assess your round?
MAX GREYSERMAN: I thought it was pretty good, got off to a nice start. Kind of got in a little bit of a lull there in the middle and then there's some tough holes coming in. Pleased with the round at the end of the day, but I thought I left a few out there, especially 18 and 1, having irons in there on par 5s and making par. Just got to keep doing what I'm doing, do the same thing tomorrow and add 'em up.
Q. Do you have a preference at all when it's kind of scorable and birdies are out there or when it's tough conditions with the wind?
MAX GREYSERMAN: I would say tougher conditions. I would say this course is very different from what we normally play. Probably not my preference, to be honest, but it's a challenge every week. You get a different challenge, which is great about golf. It's pretty wide off the tee. This course is meant to play with the wind, so the way it played today is kind of how it meant. I heard last year there wasn't that much wind, so I think it's a better golf course in this amount of wind I would say.
Q. What does this course play similar as in comparison?
MAX GREYSERMAN: I was talking about that with a couple people yesterday, we literally couldn't make up a comparison. It's like Corales off the tee I guess, but then around the greens it's like Pinehurst No. 2 maybe or something like that at times. They've got some pretty funky greens.
Q. Are you able to tell this is a Tiger-designed course?
MAX GREYSERMAN: No. I mean, I don't really know what a Tigerdesigned course looks like to be honest, but I do now. I want to come back here and play in different winds for fun. I wouldn't necessarily want to play a tournament on this golf course because you get some weird bounces, but that's part of the game.
Q. What were the takeaways from the other week at ZOZO and what have you been up to with the week in between?
MAX GREYSERMAN: Yeah, basically did nothing in between. I would say I practiced and played on the weekend in between, but coming off ZOZO, jetlag was pretty bad. Jetlag going there I didn't feel any, jetlag coming back was pretty bad.
Thought I played nicely there, thought I played good enough to win. Just got to keep taking from those experiences whether good or bad. Just playing with a chance to win and near the lead, it's just really valuable experience and I think the best players in the world, they get that experience a little more often than some other players and I think they're better off because of it. Just try and learn every week.
Q. When did you add Cabo on to your schedule?
MAX GREYSERMAN: I was going to play Vegas. Fortunately I had a good end of the year, finished top 50. Then I was looking at the fall and I was going to play all the fall. I'm like, all right, I'm only going to play a few. I was going to do Vegas, Japan and Cabo. Vegas, I lived there for two years, Japan, I just wanted to go to Japan, and Cabo, I want to go to Cabo.
We had a hurricane in Florida so that kind of ruined Summerlin a little bit, so Japan and Cabo, that was always a part of the plan. Just really great places. (No audio) nice places and this is one of them. Just going to have a good week and going to stay on the back end for four days. My wife's coming in town Saturday, so that will be fun.
Q. Will that be strictly vacation, letting the clubs down, or
MAX GREYSERMAN: I want it to be strictly vacation, but I'm staying on a golf course, so there might be a few holes in between some cocktails.
Q. (No microphone.)
MAX GREYSERMAN: I definitely get a major itch and I think that kind of was the problem this fall because I needed to take time off and I was like itching to go play. But physically, I mean, I'm like so tired right now and I shouldn't be because this is only my second event of the fall, right, but I'm exhausted because I just get the itch to play and I just need a break.
Q. How many events did you play this year?
MAX GREYSERMAN: I think this is 26, but that's normal, like that's a normal amount. But I've only played two since
Q. I didn't know if you were going to give us a Ben Griffin or Sungjae Im.
MAX GREYSERMAN: It's only two since BMW though, that's not many.
Q. (No microphone.)
MAX GREYSERMAN: I don't know. People ask me that, I have literally no idea.
Q. (No microphone.)
MAX GREYSERMAN: I read some books. I don't really like Netflix. Play golf, play with my dog.
Q. What kind of dog?
MAX GREYSERMAN: Goldendoodle.
Q. Do you bring him/her on Tour?
MAX GREYSERMAN: Oh, yeah, but not Mexico. I mean, you kind of could, but it's a little risky in Mexico. I bring her to the Bahamas. Like I'm bringing her to Bahamas for Thanksgiving.
