Q. Dylan, incredible 1 through 6 to start your round today. Can you talk a little bit about all 18 holes for us?
DYLAN WU: Yeah. The beginning was really fun, very exciting. I actually made kind of a -- almost let a birdie slip away on the first hole. I had a relatively easy bunker shot and didn't hit my greatest bunker shot, but made like a 10-, 12-footer for birdie. Kept hitting good shots. It was nice to see some putts go in and once you start making a few, you just keep on trying to make more. Made six and it was really fun doing that.
Overall, a very positive round. The conditions are a lot easier today than yesterday. It was just super windy yesterday. I mean, scores were low. Overall I played pretty well, pretty happy with how I hung in there. Had a little bad break on 14, 15 there with a couple bogeys, but made birdie on the last and overall it was a solid day, so looking forward to two good rounds on the weekend.
Q. What do you like about this course?
DYLAN WU: It's my first time playing this. I skipped it last year. I love coming to Cabo and I think I just like that you kind of have to hit good second shots out here. It's relatively wide off the tee, especially when it's less windy, but you have to be really precise on your second shots. If you can do that, the greens kind of feed to the pin locations and you can make a lot of birdies. The greens are pretty receptive and they're not super fast, but they're a really good holing speed. I feel like a lot of guys just like that.
It's nice to have at least a day like yesterday where I feel like this entire fall and the last couple months like the cut's just been super low. That's a little harder because you can just have not score as well and be missing cuts when you're shooting 4, 5 under. It was nice to have a tougher day yesterday. I feel like I played almost better yesterday, hung in there just because it was just a tough day with the wind.
Q. You're sitting 8th right now in the leaderboard. I know I'm getting a little ahead of myself, but what would a top-10 finish mean to you during the FedExCup Fall heading into the 2025 season?
DYLAN WU: Yeah, huge. I kind of know where I'm at right now. I wish I played better at the beginning of the year or the rest of the regular season to not put myself in this position. It's still an awesome experience whether you play well or play bad. I think players talk about just top players like Sahith, Ben Griffin and other guys, like when you're on the cut line or you're fighting for your job, it's a lot harder than when you're trying to win a tournament. When you're playing well, like what's the worst that's going to happen? You'll still have a really good finish and you'll learn from it. If you don't keep your job or don't keep full status, you're just behind the 8-ball all year long.
I kind of know how big this fall is. I'm just looking to have a chance this weekend. This is my third year on Tour, but I haven't really put myself in position. I saw on the back nine I was leading for a little bit and those feelings are awesome because I want to experience that. Whether I play good or not, it's just an awesome experience to have.
I know a really good finish here helps a lot. I think at the end of the day, all of us are trying to win a golf tournament. I think that's the reality. If you can just try to focus on doing that and you come close, everything takes care of itself, so just keep on trying to play good golf.
