Q. Coming down to the stretch, currently the cut's at 5, where you're at. How are you feeling, especially on 18 there?
KEVIN STREELMAN: Gosh, hit a nice tee shot. The only place you can't miss it there is left and I hit a 5wood that caught the left slope. I knew it would be a very difficult pitch. A little too far, goes all the way on the other slope, and then hit a pretty decent pitch back up to like 20, 25 feet and buried that for par.
So it was a battle to at least give myself a chance. That's all you can do and then it's out of your hands. I guess someone can still birdie 9 to knock us out. If not, we'll sit around the next few days and maybe have a tequila and do a little practice the next few days before the charter to Bermuda. If not, I get to play a few more rounds and I appreciate that, too.
Q. Were you knowing on 18, did you talk to your caddie kind of where the cutline had stood?
KEVIN STREELMAN: We've been doing this long enough where we knew that T64 was 5 under, so knew if you got to 6 under you would be pretty safe, especially being in the back of the wave. With 18 being a gettable par 5, you kind of assume some people are going to bounce that backwards. Mentioned there's still hope, so keep fingers crossed, but I did the best I could.
Q. What's it like to try to capitalize on weeks like this?
KEVIN STREELMAN: Yeah, you know, you've got to do this every week, you just never know when the putter's going to get hot or you might have a chance to win a tournament. Been doing this coming on 500 events on Tour, so it's been quite a run. I still enjoy the heat of the battle on a Friday, the heat of the battle on a Sunday. Still think I can kind of hang with some of these young guys.
It's fun to see the evolution of golf and how much it's moving forward, how the Tour is just kind of getting younger and faster and better. Honestly, I'm impressed with a lot of the caliber of the guys, too. It's been fun being out here. They call me grandpa, but to still be out here at 47 now and giving this thing a run is something I'm proud of.
Q. Which players are calling you grandpa?
KEVIN STREELMAN: J.J. Spaun calls me gramps every time I see him. Little punk.
Q. Have you been able to see or talk to Michael Brennan, our most recent PGA TOUR winner?
KEVIN STREELMAN: Yeah, I actually saw him in dining on Tuesday, gave him a congrats. It's pretty incredible to go from Latin America Tour to kind of skip over Korn Ferry to the PGA TOUR, it is quite a feat.
I kind of did a similar thing in QSchool in '07 where I got through all three stages and was able to get my Tour card and jump past the Korn Ferry, which I was thankful for. But those first few events are eye opening. In just my third event on Tour I ended up paired with Tiger on the weekend, so it was quite an introduction to life on the PGA TOUR.
He hits it far, he's a really good kid, obviously can putt and chip. He'll be out here for a really long time.
Q. Did he ask for any advice or did you give any words of wisdom?
KEVIN STREELMAN: No, no. I don't think he needs much from me. Just keep putting well and driving it between the hazard lines and he'll be just fine.
